3D printer manufacturer Stratasys has announced 16 new materials for its devices. According to a statement from the company, this expansion is intended to enable new use cases.
To give its customers access to more FDM 3D printing materials, Stratasys has partnered with material manufacturers Covestro, Kimya and Victrex. The new FDM materials include high-performance polymers such as Arkema/Kimya PEKK-SC and Victrex AM 200, reinforced and specialty polymers such as Covestro PA6/66 GF20 FR, engineering polymers such as Kimya PC FR and standard-grade polymers. The third-party materials are expected to be available later this year.
Polypropylene for 3D printers
Also due to be launched this year is a new material from Stratasys' most powerful grade. This is FDM Nylon-CF10, a strong carbon fibre composite material.
There will also be a total of eight new materials for the Origin One 3D printer under the Open Material License (OML). These include photopolymer resins for moulding, casting, high temperature, ceramic, electrostatic dissipative (ESD) and elastic applications. In addition, Stratasys has announced polypropylene for the H350 3D printer. Polypropylene is said to have higher chemical resistance, according to the company. Its sterilisability also makes it interesting for a variety of applications, such as interior and exterior parts of automobiles, prosthetics and consumer products. The material is also expected to be available this year.
