Current topics and trends as well as networking and a look behind the scenes — All of this and more took place at the Meusburger Tool and Mould-Making Days 2019.
On 10 and 11 October 2019, numerous representatives of companies from German-speaking countries met at the “Werkzeug- und Formenbautage” (Tool and Mould-Making Days). At twelve lectures and a panel discussion, visitors were informed about current topics and trends. As an additional highlight, the participants were given a look behind the scenes of the Bregenz Festival. This was followed by a networking party under the motto “Las Vegas Night”. The many possibilities for networking were very well accepted.
Marc Walter and Thomas Zettlmeier from Otto Bihler Maschinenfabrik GmbH & Co. KG showed the specialist audience how to get to the new tool easily, quickly and inexpensively with the Leantool progressive compound. On the part of Meusburger, the unique hot runner mould was presented by the speaker Michael Hrach, Head of Product Marketing. With this exclusive innovation, Meusburger took a further step towards standardisation in the hot runner sector. However, this step is by no means intended to replace customer-specific solutions, but to complement them optimally. In ten further presentations, topics from the areas of process optimisation and digitisation were discussed.
In addition to the lectures, an in-house exhibition took place in the Festspielhaus. The 34 exhibitors provided information about their own products and services. One of these exhibitors was the Meusburger company itself. Among other things, there were product novelties like the mould cavity pressure sensors or the new inclined ejector unit to see. In the hot runner area, innovative and customer-specific solutions from the PSG product brand were presented. These solutions enable shorter cycle times, fast colour changes or the injection of parts that are difficult to access. Of course, the Profitemp+ hot runner controller was also a topic in the area of control technology. The overall appearance in the digital area was completed by the WBI knowledge management software and the ERP system Segoni.PPMS, specially designed for tool and mould-making. Between the presentations, the specialist audience had the opportunity to take a closer look at the booths and exchange ideas with the company representatives. The proximity to the Meusburger head office offered additionally the possibility of participating in an inspection of the modern manufacturing plants. For the majority of the participants, it was a great experience to talk about industry topics on a smaller scale and in a relaxed atmosphere at the Tool and Mould-Making Days. During the panel discussion on “Technology and people”, questions such as “How much ‘human’ does technology need?”
A look behind the scenes
The ambience directly at Lake Constance was of course again unique for this event. In addition to the specialist lectures, this year's Tool and Mould-Making Days once again offered a colourful supporting programme. At the end of the first day, the participants were allowed to take a look behind the scenes of the Bregenz Festival before the networking party. True to the motto “Las Vegas Night”, the focus was on games, fun and entertainment. The gaming tables at Roulette and Black Jack were always well-attended. The flying dinner and the live music provided a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. The exhibitors, as well as the visitors, found very positive words for the event. The companies and especially Meusburger are already looking forward to the next Tool and Mould-Making Days, which will take place on 11 and 12 March 2021.
