Oen Mind Technologies was very pleased with the level of interest of the company's mould and tool making solutions received at the recently held Moulding Expo. Visitors at the trade fair who hadn’t yet heard about the optimisation options available with 5-axis tangent plane machining were able to learn more about this solution at its booth, where a large model of a conical barrel cutter was on exhibit.
This tool, in combination with hyperMILL machining solutions, can deliver time savings up to 90%, the company says. The topic of die-sinking EDM also caused a great deal of excitement at the booth, which also presented a CAM/CAD solution for fast electrode production.
Innovations from the hyperMILL 2017.2 as well as the hyperMILL MAXX Machining performance package with its three modules for roughing, finishing and drilling were presented too. The company demonstrated features such as 3D-optimised roughing, T-slot programming and expansions for 5-axis re-work machining to the many visitors at the fair.
The highlight was an example of process optimisations as a solution for manufacturing tasks that doesn’t involve cutting: hyperCAD-S electrode is an innovative module for extensively automating the design and production of electrodes for die-sinking. This module makes it possible to quickly derive electrodes from the face to be die-sunk within the component geometry and mill these electrodes – without any specialist expertise, according to the company.
