SMT nozzles provide flexibility, thermal separation
During the production of hybrid inserts, Günther’s SMT-type hot runner nozzles provided good thermal separation between the hot runner system and the cavity. Its two-part shaft has a front area composed of titanium alloy with low heat conductivity, and the integrated air gap provides reliable insulation to minimise heat loss from the hot runner nozzle to the mould. This leads to a very homogeneous temperature distribution in the nozzle. The heat-conductive tip is protected against wear, and a thermal conductivity of approximately 120 W/mK allows for even opening, producing a clean tear-off performance.
The system facilitates trouble-free processing of both technical and high-temperature resistant plastics. The installation geometry of the SMT hot runner nozzle in the gate-well area is easy for mould makers to produce, which in turn cuts production costs. It’s a simple idea - the hot runner nozzle seals in the cavity insert which increases protection against leakage in an area where cavities may be damaged by frequent mounting work.
