Seco is intensifying its commitment to circularity as a core element of its sustainability strategy. The company is rethinking how it designs, manufactures, and delivers value in order to build a more sustainable manufacturing future. “Circularity pushes us to explore innovative solutions across our entire value chain,” says Malvina Roci, Circularity Manager at Seco. This includes new business models, closer collaboration with suppliers, and measures to extend product lifespans and improve resource efficiency.

Rather than focusing solely on recycling, Seco prioritizes product longevity and reuse. Tools are designed for durability, repairability, and refurbishment, and made using recycled and recyclable materials whenever possible. The company also supports customers with engineering expertise to optimise tool usage and reduce waste. Reconditioning services further extend product lifecycles, enabling tools to go through multiple use phases before raw material recovery.

Product traceability is another key focus. With the introduction of data matrix codes on inserts and round tools, Seco enhances its ability to monitor tool use and condition. This enables more informed decisions on tool maintenance, reuse, and replacement.

Looking ahead, Seco has set a target to achieve 90 percent circularity in products, packaging, and waste by 2030. This goal supports the company’s ambition to lead a broader industry transformation.

“Circularity is not just an environmental necessity — it’s a fundamental shift in manufacturing,” says Malvina Roci. “By rethinking how we design, use, and recover materials, we are building a more sustainable future.”
