Seco is simplifying carbide tool recycling with a new self-service digital platform — making it easier for customers to recycle, track CO₂ savings, and support a more sustainable, circular economy.

Cutting tool manufacturer Seco has introduced a new self-service recycling portlet for carbide tool recycling, designed to make the process more straightforward, transparent and efficient. The digitalized buy-back program, available in several markets, enables customers to easily return used carbide tools and contribute to a circular economy while benefiting from a rewarding recycling experience. The new web-based service, accessible through customers’ My Pages accounts, offers a streamlined approach where users can request price quotes for their used carbide tools, order free recycling containers, book shipments, track orders, monitor CO₂ savings, and receive a sustainability certificate.

By recycling used carbide tools, Seco wants to help reduce reliance on virgin raw materials such as tungsten, cobalt, and tantalum. According to the company, this approach significantly lowers energy consumption by 70 percent and cuts CO₂ emissions by 64 percent, reinforcing the company’s commitment to its net-zero emissions target by 2050.

“We are committed to making carbide recycling easier and more accessible for our customers. This digital transformation enhances efficiency while ensuring we meet our ambitious sustainability goals,” says Malvina Roci, Circularity Manager at Seco.

This service is already available in several markets, with ongoing expansion planned across Europe, the Americas and Asia Pacific.
