Arburg New machine to expand company offerings

Devon-based injection moulding specialist, Hymid Multi-Shot, says the investment in a new Arburg Allrounder injection moulding machine will enable it to expanded its production capability. The 440-tonne 4000 kN large-class machine is the latest addition to the company's line-up of injection moulding technology and part of a £300,000 investment programme.
“We’re investing to ensure we remain competitive in the UK market,” said Hymid Managing Director Tom McMurtrie. He added that the company is known nationally as a two-shot and over-moulding specialist but its clients need flexible production options. The new machine, as such will enable the company to extend its offerings to include larger format, single-shot production, making it a competitive choice for clients looking to single source a product range that includes large components and products or high impression tooling.
“Our design for manufacture and tool development expertise makes us an end-to-end provider for product designers looking for support throughout the product development journey,” McMurtrie noted.
The new Arburg machine enables Hymid to manufacture larger format, single-shot injection moulding products, with an integrated Arburg Multi-lift robot and conveyor for seamless product handling. Hymid recently used the machine alongside its two-shot machines to produce products for the Centrica Hive smart home product portfolio.
The Allrounder can process material with a shot weight of up to 607 grams at an injection pressure of 2,000 bar, with a platen size (hxv) 1171 x 1171 mm.
