Clamping technology can have an impact on digitalisation efforts

One of the topics addressed at the forum will be how clamping technology can improve value creation for digital manufacturing. Stefan Nitsche, Head of Product Management at Hainbuch, will show how make-ready and maintenance times can be reduced beforehand and replaced by productive machine runtimes. According to Nitsche, this is especially important for tool and mouldmakers who need fast change-overs and minimised make-ready times using quick-change systems like Centrotex. Time efficiency is important. This is why tool and mouldmakers want to start machining operations as quickly as possible.

Hainbuch has been a important player in the field of clamping technology for several years now. With the Toplus IQ chuck, the company started as early as 2017 with intelligent clamping technology. According to hainbuch, the companies products present the benefit of measuring the clamping force, determining the soiling and maintenance status, and detecting the clamping diameter down to an accuracy of 0.01mm.

Nitsche says: “This enables machining processes to be self-regulated for no extra outlay. A cost-intensive machine standstill entailing manual intervention is required only if the parameters have moved outside the specification.”

The Clamping Technology Forum will be held on 21 February 2018 from 9:30 A.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the International Lounge of the Exhibition Centre in Düssledorf. It is hosted by VDMA Precision Tools and VDW, the German Machine Tool Builder's Association. Chaired by Hans-Joachim Milka and Markus Heseding (VDMA Precision Tools), it will offer solutional approaches and input on how to use optimally designed clamping devices.
