With its modular central filter systems (ZFA), filter manufacturer Vomat delivers tailor-made solutions for the ultra-fine filtration of cooling lubricants — from compact systems to large-scale industrial projects. A recent example from southern Europe shows how flexibly the systems can be adapted to changes in capacity and processes — while maintaining maximum resource efficiency.

Absolutely clean grinding oil is essential for economical, reliable, and high-quality tool grinding. Filter manufacturer Vomat specializes in cleaning cooling lubricants (KSS) to the highest standard — in an energy- and resource-efficient manner, flexibly scalable and individually tailored to the requirements of the metalworking industry. In addition to the compact individual systems of the FA series, central filter systems (ZFA) are particularly popular with tool manufacturers and grinders.

Steffen Strobel, Sales Manager at Vomat: “A current large-scale project in Southern Europe illustrates what we are capable of: our technicians installed a central filter system that centrally supplies several production lines and can still be easily modified if requirements change. With a maximum filter capacity of 12,000 liters per minute and a tank volume of 60,000 liters, this ZFA is one of the largest systems of its kind in the metalworking industry. This underscores our expertise in implementing particularly challenging filtration concepts.”

What makes them special: Vomat ZFA systems consist of separate modules that can be freely combined as required. This allows tailor-made system concepts to be implemented that not only meet current production conditions but can also be quickly expanded or adapted in response to increasing or changing capacities. This applies to medium-sized companies as well as large-scale projects.

The basic modules, such as the ZFA 1200 model with compact dimensions of 1200 × 1200 × 2200 mm, achieve filter finenesses of 3 to 5 µm and operate with precise, demand-oriented full-flow filtration using a backwash process. Dirty and clean oil are separated 100 percent, and no filter additives are required. Thanks to special design features, clean oil in NAS class 7 is always available during backwashing.

The cooling technology is designed specifically for each process — with a control accuracy of ± 0.2 K — and can be operated either via external condensers or cold water. Energy-optimized machine supply pumps, automated disposal units for recyclable materials, and a central PLC control system with remote control function round off the concept. The bottom line is that the system concept enables a high degree of automation with low maintenance requirements.

The result: significantly longer service life for cooling lubricants and grinding wheels, less maintenance and energy consumption, and reduced machine downtime. In this way, Vomat ensures that metalworkers worldwide — from individual tool grinders to large-scale manufacturers — benefit not only technically but also economically from state-of-the-art cooling lubricant microfiltration.

Steffen Strobel: “With sophisticated technology, Vomat delivers sustainable filtration solutions that reduce operating costs and conserve resources — without compromising on quality and precision. The XXL system in Southern Europe is a very good example of how customer-specific challenges can be mastered with technological strength and a clear focus on efficiency.”
