Swiss Steel Group has launched its latest product line, Ugima-X martensitic and duplex steels, marking a significant advancement in machining technology. This launch meets the growing demand for the high quality properties of Ugima-X austenitic grades to be available in martensitic and duplex grades.

The company has introduced new Ugima-X grades at its French subsidiary, Ugitech, including martensitic steels such as Ugima-X 4021 and Ugima-X 4028, which are characterised by improved hardness and wear resistance. In addition, the duplex steel Ugima-X 4460 was launched, which features easier machinability - a notable achievement given the traditional challenges associated with machining duplex steels.

These innovations are characterised by consistent performance during machining, resulting in greater productivity and adaptability to different cutting conditions on both automatic and CNC machines. The strategic inclusion of elements such as sulphur and oxides in these steels promotes optimum chip breaking and extends tool life, thereby improving machining efficiency.

Addressing the inherently difficult machining of stainless steels, which has long been a challenge for bar turners, Swiss Steel Group's introduction of the Ugima range represents a leap forward in simplifying these processes. This range has been specifically designed to offer excellent machinability and unparalleled batch-to-batch repeatability.
