According to a recent report by Ansa (Italian Associated Press Agency), the European Patent Office (EPO) states that over the past decade, patent applications related to additive manufacturing have seen an average annual growth of around 30 percent. This is six times the rate of other advanced technology sectors.

By 2022, the turnover for additive manufacturing will reach 16 billion euros. The main markets for this technology are the United States and Europe.

In this context, Italy ranks in the top ten for the number of patent applications. It also ranks second in the European Union in terms of the number of industrial installations. These statistics suggest that Italy has considerable potential in the field of additive manufacturing. The applications of this technology cover various sectors such as pharmaceuticals, healthcare, biomedical engineering, aerospace and transport.

The upcoming Più Additive event, to be held from 9 to 12 October 2024 at Fieramilano Rho, will showcase these sectors. This event is part of 34.BI-MU, a biennial exhibition dedicated to machine tools, robotics, automation, digital and additive manufacturing.

Over the years, Più Additive has become recognised as an important meeting place for manufacturers, distributors and users of additive solutions. Of the 50,000 attendees at the 2022 BI-MU event, 26 percent highlighted additive manufacturing as their primary focus.

Today, discussions on sustainability feature additive manufacturing prominently due to its potential for efficient energy and material management. This topic, along with digitalisation, will be a highlight at the next BI-MU event.

The next Più Additive promises to provide attendees with a variety of opportunities, from exhibitions to networking and insight. The event will be enriched by a series of programmes organised by the Aita-Italian Association of Additive Technologies, which is also sponsoring the initiative.
