Innova Engineered Plastics has expanded its manufacturing footprint in Mexico with the purchase of key production assets from SSK in Mexicali.

The acquisition includes five injection moulding machines with clamping forces ranging from 250 to 900 tons, an additional 10,000 square feet of production space, and upgraded electrical capacity to support future growth.

The investment is aimed at strengthening Innova’s ability to meet rising demand for heavy gauge plastic enclosures and single-use components serving highly regulated sectors, including medical devices, life sciences, aerospace and defence, diagnostic and laboratory equipment, autonomous robotics, and data centre infrastructure.

“We remain committed to investing in Innova’s growth,” said Mark Rauenzahn, CEO of Innova Engineered Plastics. “The additional machines and infrastructure provide us with greater flexibility and scale and increase our production footprint, allowing us to support our customers with faster turnaround times and expanded capacity.”

Following the expansion, Innova now operates three strategic locations: a design and innovation hub in Shirley, Massachusetts, two production facilities in Mexicali, Mexico, and a specialised cast urethane centre of excellence in San Diego, California.

The company said the combined network enables it to deliver comprehensive plastic enclosure solutions through design, thermoforming, injection moulding, cast urethane, and reaction injection moulding.
