Netzsch Process Intelligence, known as Sens-Xpert, a Corporate Venture of the Netzsch Group and an expert in advanced manufacturing control technologies, will be present at Fakuma 2024, the premier global trade fair for industrial plastics processing, from October 15th to 19th in Friedrichshafen, Germany.

At this premier event for the plastics processing industry, Sens-Xpert will showcase at booth B5-5412 its cutting-edge Digital Mold technology, designed to enhance production efficiency and quality through real-time process monitoring and optimization.

Avidens is a pioneering initiative that addresses the challenges of processing recycled plastics in technical components. With the growing emphasis on sustainability and the circular economy, ensuring consistent part quality when using recycled materials has become a critical concern. Fluctuations in material properties from batch to batch or even cycle to cycle can lead to inefficiencies and compromised product quality.

Avidens tackles this issue by integrating advanced sensor technology, process engineering, and data processing. The consortium, consisting of Sens-Xpert, Schwarz Plastic Solutions, Netzsch Analyzing & Testing, and Precupa, focuses on real-time detection of anomalies within the molding process using newly developed dielectric analysis (DEA) sensors. These sensors provide detailed insights into the polymer's behavior inside the mold, allowing immediate in-line adjustments to optimize process efficiency and maintain high-quality output. By leveraging this technology, Avidens sets a new standard for the effective and sustainable use of recycled polymers in manufacturing.

Live on Stage: Revolutionizing recycled plastics with AI and sensor technology

As part of the event, Dr. Alexander Chaloupka, CTO of Sens-Xpert, will deliver a presentation titled “Avidens: Assured Component Quality with Plastic Recyclate Thanks to In-Mold Sensor Technology and AI.” This session will take place on Wednesday, October 16th, 2024, at 1:10 PM in Room Berlin.

Here, Dr. Chaloupka will discuss the upcoming challenges posed by the European Green Deal, specifically the new minimum recycling quotas for technical plastic components that will take effect in 2025. The talk will focus on how live sensor data from inside the mold, combined with AI, can improve the quality of parts made from recycled materials, ensuring consistent, high-quality production despite material variability.

At Fakuma 2024, Sens-Xpert, in collaboration with its long-standing partner Schwarz Plastic Solutions, will present new customer success stories and demonstrate the advanced capabilities of our Digital Mold solution. Visitors will have the opportunity to see firsthand how a cutting-edge technology can streamline production processes, enhance product quality, and reduce waste in plastics manufacturing.
