Vietnam-based material innovator Cirql has entered into a strategic partnership with Italian footwear component specialist Frasson Spa, aimed at expanding the use of recycled polymer technologies in the European footwear sector. The agreement strengthens Cirql’s presence in the EU and supports the delivery of more sustainable midsole and outsole components produced through advanced injection moulding and supercritical foaming (SCF) techniques.

Frasson, a long-established manufacturer with expertise in technical footwear production, will act as Cirql’s certified EU development and manufacturing partner. The company will support the localised production of Cirql’s high-performance components made from recycled thermoplastic polyurethane (rTPU), enabling European brands to integrate circular materials more easily into their product lines.

“This partnership is a significant milestone for Cirql as we expand into the European market,” said Matt Thwaites, Vice President and General Manager at Cirql. “Frasson’s expertise in supercritical foaming and injection moulding perfectly complements our vision of providing sustainable and innovative materials to global footwear brands. Together, we aim to elevate the footwear industry with cutting-edge, eco-friendly solutions.”

The partnership enables Frasson to offer advanced injection moulded midsoles and outsoles incorporating Cirql’s proprietary recycled polymers. According to Frasson’s General Manager, Alberto Frasson, the company was among the first in Italy to invest in the relevant equipment to test and adopt new sustainable materials.

Cirql’s approach focuses on reducing waste and environmental impact during the production of footwear components. The use of recycled rTPU in injection moulding processes is seen as a practical step towards lowering the carbon footprint of footwear manufacturing, particularly for performance-oriented products.

By combining Cirql’s material expertise with Frasson’s manufacturing capabilities, the collaboration aims to set new benchmarks for sustainability and technical innovation in European footwear production.
