BIG Kaiser has announced the release of its new Hydraulic Chuck Ultra Precision, a tooling system aimed at machine shops in need of high-precision milling. Distributed in the UK by Industrial Tooling Corporation (ITC), the hydraulic chuck features a clamping system that promises runout of less than 1 micron at 4XD. The company states that the low level of runout is maintained even after extensive use, contrasting this with shrink-fit holders that can lose accuracy over time.

The hydraulic chuck is designed for ease of use, requiring only an Allen key for clamping. According to the company, this simple clamping method eliminates the need for hot clamping machines, extending the tool holder's lifespan and reducing both costs and environmental impact compared to shrink-fit holders.

The new chuck is part of BIG Kaiser's HDC (hydraulic chucks) series and is available in 3, 5, and 6 mm diameters. Giampaolo Roccatello, Chief Sales & Marketing Officer for Europe at BIG Kaiser, said the new product aims to offer high accuracy, citing the company's years of experience in the field. He also argued that, although shrink-fit holders might have a lower initial cost, hydraulic chucks could offer economic benefits over time when considering the costs of additional equipment and time.
