In a strategic move within the tool and mould making industry, Biesinger, based in Haigerloch, Germany, has acquired Nagolder Erodiertechnik, a small company that filed for bankruptcy last November. The acquisition, which took effect on 1 February, includes not only the machinery but also the employees of the insolvent company.

The meeting between Marcus Raible, Managing Director of Nagolder Erodiertechnik, and Ingo Biesinger of Biesinger was originally intended to discuss a milling machine. However, the conversation quickly developed into Biesinger taking over the entire operation. Ingo Biesinger, along with his father Gregor and brother Jörg, who run the family business together, saw this as an opportunity to take on responsibility, reposition the company efficiently in the market, expand capacity and secure skilled workers and new customers, thereby ensuring a stable future for the Haigerloch site.

The acquisition was facilitated by a connection made at an event hosted by the German Tool and Mould Builders' Association (VDWF), highlighting the importance of networking within the industry. The move not only saved jobs, including that of a toolmaker who had been with Nagolder Erodiertechnik for 30 years, but also secured the professional futures of the employees and provided a stable outlook for both staff and customers in challenging times.

Biesinger plans to integrate 70 percent of Nagolder Erodiertechnik's machinery and has already signed employment contracts with two toolmakers from the acquired company. The acquisition not only increases Biesinger's capacity, but also prompts the company to reconsider offering contract manufacturing services again, taking advantage of the overlap in the two companies' portfolios. The transition has been smooth, with efforts focused on working with Nagolder Erodiertechnik's existing customers and ensuring a seamless handover, even under the constraints of a tight timeline and the recent holiday season. This expansion marks a new phase for Biesinger, promising growth and innovation in the tool and mould making sector.
