The plastics industry is moving towards a more sustainable future, and the Eco Plastics Summit, hosted by Bausano — a leading international player in the design and manufacture of customised extrusion equipment for plastics processing — aims to steer the transition towards a circular economy. The summit, which is open to the public, will take place on 13 June from 9.30 am to 4 pm at Bausano's headquarters in Rivarolo Canavese — Corso Indipendenza, 111 in Italy. A unique event of its kind, where academic research and industrial know-how enter into a dialogue to ensure that innovation forms the basis of a production cycle that can reduce the environmental impact of plastics.

The event will not only provide a valuable networking opportunity for industry players, but also an opportunity to learn about the principles and practices of the circular economy. Clemente Bausano, Vice President of Bausano, will officially open the event with a short welcome speech and introduce the tech talk entitled ‘Decoding progress: Circular Economy, Regeneration and New Technologies’ by Prof. Quatraro, Full Professor of Economic Policy at the University of Turin and Guest of Honour together with his team of researchers. The aim of the lecture is to highlight the importance of the transition to a more virtuous model in terms of products and processes, emphasising the crucial role of technology. Within this framework, Bausano is translating the principles of the circular economy into concrete actions, offering guests the exclusive opportunity to visit the production department and experience the live test of a plant for the recycling of PP from post-industrial injection moulding waste. Specifically, the planned test involves the single-screw extruder 90/37 of the E-GO R series, the innovative series that enables the recycling of heavily contaminated plastics.

“There has never been a greater need than in recent years to rethink existing production models in favour of a more environmentally friendly approach based on the 3-R paradigm: reduce, recycle, recover. This represents a major turning point that, on the one hand, brings numerous growth opportunities, but on the other hand, poses a major challenge for the players in the plastics industry,” says Clemente Bausano, Vice President of Bausano, and concludes: “We are convinced that plastics can only become the protagonist of a virtuous circle of production and consumption through the exchange of knowledge, collaboration between universities and companies to promote responsible practices and the development of cutting-edge technologies. We thank all those who register for the Summit and join them in striving for a better future for our planet.”
