In a significant move to strengthen its position as a global leader in sustainable titanium and refractory metal powder production, 6K Additive, a division of 6K Inc, announced the acquisition of Global Metal Powders (GMP). Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The acquisition integrates GMP's unique titanium and refractory metal processing technologies and high purity chromium powder production into 6K Additive's expanding business.

6K Additive, known for its sustainable production methods in additive manufacturing and metal alloys, will now incorporate GMP's proprietary manufacturing and recycling technologies. These are essential in the preparation of materials prior to the Unimelt spheroidisation process. This strategic move, coupled with the recent doubling of its manufacturing capacity, cements 6K Additive's status as a leading producer of sustainable titanium and refractory metal powders.

With this acquisition, 6K Additive will utilise GMP's specialised technology to produce custom powders from various return streams across multiple metal alloys, including titanium, chromium, molybdenum, niobium, tantalum and tungsten. GMP's manufacturing facility in New Castle, PA will continue to operate under the 6K Additive name.

Frank Roberts, President of 6K Additive, emphasised the company's unique position in meeting the growing market demand for sustainably produced powders, particularly in titanium and refractory metals. He highlighted the importance of the GMP integration, which will enhance the company's production capabilities and drive the advancement of recycling processes, ultimately reducing overall part costs for customers.
