Preparations for 35.Bi-Mu are underway ahead of the trade fair’s return to Fieramilano Rho from 13 to 16 October. Applications to exhibit continue to come in, with fresh confirmations as well as the return of major players. Parallel to this, the organising team is finalising the programme of accompanying initiatives as the event changes its weekly schedule. For the first time, Bi-Mu will open on Tuesday and close on Friday, running over four working days in line with many B2B-only events.

Promoted by Ucimu and organised by Efim – Ente Fiere Italian Macchine, the 35th edition will use “Where it all begins” as its slogan. The theme underlines the role of machine tools as the backbone of manufacturing processes and reflects the event’s continuity: 35 editions mark 70 years of uninterrupted organisation.

Alongside machine tools, 35.Bi-Mu will spotlight seven technology themes. Robotheart will focus on robotics, automation, components, systems and artificial intelligence, sponsored by Siria (Italian Robotics and Automation Association). Amitaly will cover the additive-manufacturing supply chain, sponsored by Aita (Italian Association of Additive Technologies). Bi-Mu Digital will present smart-factory solutions including advanced software, connectivity and data security, sensors and self-adaptive systems. Metrology and Testing will centre on measuring instruments, testing machines and machine vision. Power4Machines will feature components for mechanical, electrical and pneumatic power transmission, sponsored by Federtec (Association of the Italian Production Chain of Mechatronic Technologies and Components for Fluid Power). Heat and Surface Treatments will address plants and systems designed to improve material performance. New for this edition is Tool Tech, dedicated to advanced tooling for efficient, high-precision production.

The show will also include a Revamping & Retrofitting overview, presenting refurbished and upgraded machines and systems aimed at the second-life market alongside new equipment. The Bi-Mupiù arena will again host a programme of thematic and technical sessions led by organisers, exhibitors and industry experts.

Special focuses will target user sectors regarded as particularly dynamic in investment and innovation, including Aerospace & Defence and Energy. These sessions are scheduled for 14 and 15 October in the arena and will run for 90 minutes each, with contributions from leading figures in both sectors to assess market opportunities for exhibitors.

For students and early-career entrants, the Education & Job initiative returns, with Robotgames as its flagship event. The automation and robotics contest for high-school students will run for its second edition.

New for 2026 is the Bi-Mu Futurtech Awards, recognising innovation showcased at the exhibition. The competition is open to 35.Bi-Mu exhibitors across three categories: mechanical innovation, digitalisation and sustainability. Organisers position the awards as a way to highlight Bi-Mu’s role in documenting and anticipating technology advances in industrial production.

The pre-show programme will continue with a series of events. The next two are scheduled for Wednesday, 22 April, at the Ucimua headquarters: “Industrial Service Robots and Humanoids: an Increasingly Blurred Line”, organised by SIRI in cooperation with 35.Bi-Mu and Fondazinone Ucimu; and Thursday, 18 June, the “Innovative Robotics Forum” at Kilometro Rosso in Bergamo, sponsored by 35.Bi-Mu and organised by Tecnologie Meccaniche and Tecnolamiera with the support of Ucimu. Further events focused on additional key sectors are planned for the coming months.
