WIN 2012 World of Industry Fair in Istanbul: Part 1 Successful

Author / Editor: Eric Culp / Jürgen Schreier

Wintry weather in Istanbul did not prevent exhibitors from doing good business with both national and international trade visitors during Part 1 of the Turkish trade fair cluster World of Industry 2012 (WIN), which concluded in early February.

That was partly because the snow did not deter 43,800 professional visitors from attending the first installment of the multiexposition event organized by Hannover Messe International Istanbul Ltd. Sti. Customers came from Middle Eastern and North African nations, Bulgaria, India and Russia. WIN Part 1 comprised fair sections designated Metalworking, Welding, and Surface Treatment and hosted 927 exhibiting companies from 33 countries.

The percentage of international visitors increased 7.5% from 2011, exceeding expectations. Visitors included 30 purchasing delegations from 19 cities in Turkey. Also, an OAIB (Central Anatolian Exporter Unions) initiative supported by the Turkish Ministry of Economics organized a delegation of buyers from more than 13 countries stretching from North Africa through southeastern Europe to Central Asia.

Among the 76 organizations supporting the event were 30 international entities, including the VDW (German Machine Tool Builders’ Association), which organized a German Pavilion at the Metalworking section of WIN.

WIN Part 2 takes place March 29–April 1 at the Tüyap Exhibition Centre in Istanbul. This portion of the annual event consists of the international trade fairs Otomasyon (industrial automation), Electrotech (energy, electrical engineering and electronics), Hydraulic & Pneumatic (fluid-power technology) and Materials Handling (intralogistics and transport).
