On November 2nd, 2018, Vogel Industrial Media will join hands with the government of Anting, Jiading District, Shanghai to hold the sixth International Conference on Sustainable Manufacturing (ICSM) 2018.
China’s manufacturing industry is experiencing growth and an increase in basic skills, quality brands and standardization. This is due to the automation of production lines, the adoption of digital factory concepts and the boost of industrial networking. Beijing's policy also supports this development with the "Made in China 2025" program, with which China aims to achieve breakthroughs in key sectors such as IT, high-end numerical machine tools, industrial robots or new materials.
China on the way to smart manufacturing
All these advancements and measures have resulted in China‘s manufacturing industry taking a further step towards “smart manufacturing” (SM). Many companies have already begun to implement this technological concept that uses machines connected via the Internet to monitor the production process. The goal of SM is to accelerate the automation of manufacturing processes and use data analysis in order to improve production performance. The upgrading of traditional production lines as well as the construction of new production lines based on “Industry 4.0” will be an important means for China’s manufacturing industry to become “smart”.
The International Conference on Sustainable Manufacturing aims to help Chinese companies solve problems in the process of upgrading their production lines and find solutions to move towards "Intelligent Manufacturing". The Forum which is held by Vogel Industrial Media in collaboration with the Anting Town Government will take place at Shanghai Crowne Plaza Hotel on November 2nd, 2018. Speakers include well-known experts and scientists from leading domestic and foreign companies with extensive experience in the implementation of “Industry 4.0” and turnkey projects for overall production line systems.
In the 2017 edition of the conference, speakers from big industry players like Schunk, Shenyang Machine Tool or Bosch Rexroth shared experiences of their “path towards digitalisation”, as Dr. Simon Du, Managing Director of Schunk Intec Precision Machinery Trading (Shanghai), put it in the title of his speech. Additionally, academic representatives gave an insight into their knowledge. For example, Prof. Jürgen Fleischer, Head of the Institute of Production Science at Karlsruhe Institute for Technology (KIT), focused on characteristics of the Chinese market and consequences for R+D (research and development) and production.
Topics of ICSM 2018
This year, the forum will focus on the theme of “Turnkey Project of Overall Production Line System”. The topics of the lectures cover international advanced equipment manufacturing technology, production solutions and turnkey projects of production line system ranging from design to the finished product. Four main phases of the product life cycle are highlighted: product design, process design, manufacturing, and maintenance. The conference will also focus on the main application areas of intelligent manufacturing such as automotive, aerospace and electronics.
