The annual community meeting of Aachener Werkzeugbau Akademie (WBA) in Aachen, Germany, brought together around 150 professionels fot networking, exchange and insights into the work of the Tooling Academy Aachen.
The last community meeting of WBA Aachener Werkzeugbau Akademie (Tooling Academy Aachen) was held in November in Aachen. The meeting that takes place twice a year – alternating between Aachen and a meeting at one of the members' compan – brought together around 150 representatives from 72 companies at the hotel Pullmann Aachen Quellenhof. Over the years, the WBA Annual Meeting has become a valuable platform for profitable collaboration and exchange in the German toolmaking industry.
The continued growth of the WBA was illustrated by the presentation of four new member companies and two other honorary members, the publication of four new specialist studies and the presentation of WBA's new location in the production engineering cluster on the RWTH Aachen University campus. In addition to the current developments of the WBA, the results of the WBA projects from 2017 as well as the ten project proposals for the year 2018 were presented during the meeting. One focus of the projects for the coming year is the topic of digital networking and process chaining.
In the second part of the meeting, the WBA granted its members insights into the premises of the WBA at the production technology cluster. In co-operation with eight partners, WBA prestened the latest trends in tooling both in the “World of toolmaking” and in its own tool making demonstration. These innovative high-tech solutions included the comparison of circular segment milling cutters and conventional ball end mills, the Chameleon Quad automation cell, the Pro-Leis system as well as an indoor GPS naviagtion and smart glasses.
