MEX 2017 Upgrades programme faster, provide greater flexibility
Open Mind Technologies will be presenting its newly released Hyper-Mill 2017.2 at the fair. Several new functions and upgrades to the CAD/CAM suites will enable users to programme faster and with greater flexibility, the company says.
The new electrode module, upgrades to 3D and 5-axis machining and the Hyper-Mill Maxx Machining performance package will be showcased.
Electrodes for die-sinking EDM have to be designed, programmed and finally milled – usually a time-consuming process. To speed this up, Open Mind has developed the Hyper-CAD-S electrode module to enable electrodes to be derived and programmed in a few steps. The design process is largely automated in Hyper-CAD-S. The faces to be eroded on the components have to be selected, after which the module generates the corresponding collision-free electrodes. Thus, the electrode faces are extended and blanks and holders are derived automatically. Technology and component transfers in Hyper-Mill then ensure fast, reliable programming in a few, short clicks. If the machining macros are available, programming can be partially or fully automated.
