Control 2017 Third Dimension launches automated laser measurement solution and inspection software
UK/North Ireland – Supplier of precision metrology solutions, Third Dimension, will be launching Vectro, an automated laser measurement system, and Inspect, an intuitive inspection software at Control this year.
The company says that Vectro has been specifically designed for automated use – for integration either robotically or as a fixed installation, replicating the advanced capabilities of the company's best-selling Gap-Gun Pro that is used for quality control by manufacturers in automotive, aerospace and energy industries worldwide. Designed to be simpler, faster and cheaper than the Gap-Gun Robot+ that it replaces, Vectro is ideal for high precision break sharp edge applications or fast throughput of production checks, Third Dimension notes.
Consistent positioning delivers repeatable and reliable results and the company's V-Change sensors can measure a diverse range of features and surfaces. Inspect has been designed to flexibly analyse a component’s profile when used alongside the Gap-Gun Pro. The software is said to be quick and easy to use, with multi-section drag and drop tools to provide accurate and traceable digital inspection results that shadow-graphs just can’t match. Ideal for offline metrology checks, Inspect reduces time and training to calculate multiple dimensions of a complex shape when compared to design specifications, according to the company.
Tim Monks, Chief Executive of Third Dimension, said: “Manufacturers are increasingly looking at ways to improve quality and save time, money and resources, and we’re excited to see how both Vectro and Inspect will play a big part in helping them achieve this. We’re looking forward to showcasing these for the first time at Control 2017.”
