It's a situation that many injection moulders know all too well: an injection mould has been running smoothly for days and suddenly an error occurs. The part is not fully moulded, a hot runner nozzle is clogged or burrs appear... Not a situation that would make an experienced machine operator or fitter helpless. It's different for inexperienced employees and career changers. Arising hectic leads to mistakes. A minor issue quickly turns into real damage with corresponding costs. Or, the machine is simply switched off until an experienced colleague arrives. Production downtime often results in high costs for the processor.

With the Moldguide, Tech2know offers a pioneering digital solution to assist the inexperienced employees in the production. All relevant operating information on equipment such as injection moulding tools is stored on a cloud-based platform in a didactic format. This enables employees to quickly find solutions and use instructions on how to use the equipment in a targeted manner. Additionally, the employees can easily document their own experiences and solutions in the same place. The result is a Knowhow-Pool that can be viewed and updated easily via an access code on the equipment. There is no need to search for operating instructions and information, and errors and waste are reduced.

“The growing shortage of skilled labour means that more and more companies are increasingly relying on career changers,” explains Dr Thornagel, owner of Tech2Know, and adds: “Efficient knowledge transfer and the active storage of knowledge are becoming a business success factor.” According to the provider, the Moldguide is a solution that is very easy to use and integrate into company processes.

“In mould maintenance, the number of skilled workers is also decreasing and errors in handling capital goods are increasing,” adds Klaus Lemke, Managing Director of Triwefo. “That's why the Moldguide is also highly attractive for mould producers like Triwefo. With minimal additional effort, we provide our customers with instructions for use that point out the special features of a mould individually and provide long-term training on how to use the mould correctly. It reduces our support costs and strengthens customer loyalty.“

Dr Patrick Messer, Head of Application Technology at Boy, also sees the Moldguide as a forward-looking solution. “Especially when injection moulds are relocated or only used temporarily, a lot of knowledge is lost in practice. However, digital platforms such as the Moldguide can provide efficient support. We at Boy see ourselves as drivers of innovation and are therefore pleased to support solutions that offer our customers additional added value.” The company will be presenting the Moldguide at its Fakuma booth in Hall 7, booth A7-7101.
