The company noted that Florian Rauchenberger, heads of project management at Technologie Vertriebs und Beratungs GmbH (TVB) in Upper Bavaria, said the trend in toolmaking is moving towards specialisation, and the production of electrodes for EDM machines is a clear example of this.

Passing on the work to the specialist shop

“When it comes to the manufacture of graphite electrodes, many toolmakers now place their trust in the expertise of specialist service providers,” Rauchenberger explained. “Graphite electrodes are more efficient than copper, requiring just 25% to 30% of the time to erode. Graphite also enables much more complex and finer structures to be formed.”
