Swiss Steel Group and its subsidiary Ugitech (France) have introduced Ugiwam wire, a solution for additive manufacturing using arc welding and wire (WAAM). The product is designed for the manufacture of components and for producing alloys tailored to the requirements of different industries. Ugitech, a European supplier of welding wire for stainless steel and alloys, combines expertise in welding, wire drawing and machining in its approach to additive manufacturing.

Ugiwam wire is characterised by a customised chemical composition, full traceability of raw materials and in-house control of the wire drawing process. As a European manufacturer of welding consumables with its own steel production, Ugitech can directly influence the wire’s chemical composition to match customer specifications. The company draws on 35 years of experience in manufacturing welding consumables and over a century of stainless steel production, supplying wire for applications across aerospace, defence, oil and gas, nuclear, marine and other sectors.

To maximise the performance of components produced by additive manufacturing, Ugitech relies on its research and development centre. The chemical composition of the wire is continuously improved there to optimise the properties of the deposit. Ugitech has implemented special systems in its wire drawing processes to monitor and stabilise the surface finish of the wire in order to optimise weldability.

Ugiwam products are specially tested and optimised to meet the requirements of the additive manufacturing industry and guarantee maximum precision and excellent material properties.
