CAM Surfware issues beta version of major new release of flagship CAM system

Surfware Inc. has completed the beta version of its Surfcam 6 CAM software system, which is being made available to Surfcam beta users, testers and resellers worldwide. The developer pronounces this next major release to be on schedule for general market availability.

Peter Marton, vice president of Surfware, says Surfcam 6 is a significant release version of the company’s flagship product. “A large part of this release has been dedicated to taking the existing power and control available in the software today and coupling it with enhancements and features to make for an improved user experience.”

The addition of a 64-bit version, new and updated internal technologies, and many additional new features and enhancements are designed to make Surfcam 6 appeal to programmers seeking a machine programming tool that is easy to use while allowing the programmer to create toolpaths with a high degree of precision and control.

“We have found this beta release of Surfcam 6 to be solid and stable,” says Surfcam reseller Don McKillop, based in Florida, USA. “We have all the power in Surfcam 6 to easily create the most complex of 5-axis toolpaths, and then make them work on the floor seamlessly with the postprocessors we support.”

Surfcam reseller Greg Martin in Utah adds: “Surfware has really demonstrated their commitment to Surfcam CAD/CAM systems’ competitiveness and set the stage for many years to come with new feature-rich development.”

Other noteworthy features and enhancements in Surfcam 6 are a new engine for the tools and materials database, faster verification technology, an updated interface and completely redesigned help system, and four new toolpath strategies. Advances that contribute to the system’s ease of use include updated CAD translators, updated and new postprocessors, new productivity utilities, and an updated digitiser interface. In addition, the TrueMill toolpath calculator and toolpath algorithms have been enhanced.
