Said to be both an experienced software professional and a tool data specialist, Schneck has replaced Jürgen Auer, who exited the company after 25 years due to health reasons, according to TDM.
Schneck earned a degree as a mechanical engineer, and started his professional career in 1980 at Walter AG, where he was a project engineer for planning and equipping large portal milling machines with tools for generator production, TDM said. It noted that he later switched to the software department as manager of CAD/CAM systems before moving on to run technical IT systems. His team introduced the first software for tool management at Walter, from which TDM Release 1.0 originated exactly 25 years ago, the company reported.
Schneck also ran the business software department at Walter and introduced SAP at the company and later at Sandvik Machining Solutions, TDM said.
