Sigma Engineering’s Sigmasoft software is said to simulate the production of LSR parts in and redices air entrapment, designs venting or cold runner systems and improves thermal designs.

While part troubleshooting is still largely trial and error, this software saves development and processing time and raw material consumption, the supplier said.

The Virtual Moulding technology of Sigmasoft uses a full 3D approach to include the part and mould in the simulation. Sigma said the software performs a filling analysis and can predict the curing behaviour of the part and runner system.

Moreover, adding mould information to the simulation provides performance evaluations of tempering systems, inserts and thermal and rheological interaction of the LSR component, the gate and the tool materials.
