Additive Manufacturing SLM Solutions establishes US subsidiary for rapid manufacturing technology
Lübeck, Germany–based SLM Solutions GmbH, pursuing its global growth strategy, has established a wholly owned subsidiary in the United States. SLM Solutions NA Inc., situated in Commerce, Michigan, will serve the US and Canadian markets for rapid manufacturing technology.
SLM Solutions manufactures equipment for small- and medium-lot production of prototypes and series parts. The company says it founded the office in Michigan in response to increasing demand for its technical consulting services and great general demand for additive manufacturing systems in America. The US subsidiary enables the company to provide American customers with local support. After distribution, the subsidiary’s chief focus will be on strengthening and expanding the SLM Solutions service and sales network in Canada, Mexico and the United States.
The company says the US office will provide the full range of its products, with emphasis on additive manufacturing systems, especially selective laser melting (SLM) technology. In addition to a standard programme of SLM, vacuum casting and metal-part casting systems, the US office will supply consumables.
Vice-President Jim Fendrick, who gained experienced in the rapid manufacturing technology market working with Stratasys and EOS, is guiding development of the new office.
“We recognise the trend to additive manufacturing systems offering high-precision manufacturing solutions for prototypes and small-series parts in the US,” says Hans Joachim Ihde, CEO and president of SLM Solutions GmbH. “Our systems give companies the chance to optimise their production in a more efficient and independent way.”
SLM Solutions, which spun off from MTT Technologies Group in 2010, now has direct representation in nearly 40 countries worldwide.
