Signma Labs Sigma Labs expands patent protection of its quality assurance software
Sigma Labs has announced that it has a patent for its system of sensors configured to measure optical emissions generated by a scanning heat source during an additive manufacturing process.

The provider of quality assurance software said the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has issued a Notice of Allowance for U.S. Patent Application No. 15/276,452, “Optical Manufacturing Process Sensing and Status Indication System”. The patent application covers a system of sensors configured to measure optical emissions generated by a scanning heat source during an additive manufacturing (AM) process and to analyse the data collected, Sigma Labs explained.
CEO John Rice said, “This patent allowance further enhances the depth and breadth of the patented intellectual property portfolio covering our PrintRite3D platform.” The technology covered in this patent enables the company to provide valuable and relevant quality status information to customers requiring high-quality AM metal products production.
The USPTO has now allowed four patents pertaining to Sigma Lab’s PrintRite3D platform. Furthermore, Sigam has another eighteen other patents still pending.
