Sigma Engineering Preview of “design of experiments” and new developments

Themed “Hands-on Virtual Moulding” the usage and the development chain – from part design, through mould manufacturing up to serial production – will be the focus. A preview on future software developments, which include “design of experiments”, an optimisation tool, is in store, the company says.

According to Sigma, to make software potentially visible to users, the fields of design, mould making and part production should remain the main focus. The possible applications and technical challenges within these areas are demonstrated through practical examples. Amongst them is the bottle carrier mesh “Ursula” by CVA Silicone, which will be presented in collaboration with the companies Momentive Performance Materials, CVA Silicone and Engel at Sigma’s booth to allow visitors the first-hand experience with this virtual moulding technology.

Furthermore, examples from thermoplastic processing will be presented, for example, how Sigmasoft optimises warpage and deformation in technical parts. This will be presented together with the company, F.& G. Hachtel.

Visitors will also get to experience virtual and real production: The company, Momentive, will be demonstrating (in Hall 6, Booth B15) its Silopren LSR 2670 for a 2K-application in a 4+4-cavity mould from Elmet, and a two-component part of LSR on LSR with just one-dose pump on an Arburg Allrounder 470 A. The virtual production to design the process will however be seen at Sigma’s booth.
