Ohio seems to be the place to be. The US state hosts a number of thriving industries including advanced manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, aviation, plastics, oil & gas and many more. The state boasts more than 2,242 European companies, 533 from Germany. But the state, which offers the lowest taxes in the US Midwest, doesn't want to stop there, Ohio Lt. Governor Mary Taylor said.

"The private sector has created 425,000 new jobs since we came into office in 2011. I think that is a good number and we just need to keep moving forward. I am here, because it is a great opportunity to sell Ohio and get more business, more investment and create more jobs." But it is not only the low taxes which attract foreign companies to Ohio, it is also the state's location in the US economic heartland with the infrastructure to get to market faster as well as a skilled manufacturing workforce, which is fostered by the many research institutions and universities. Moreover, Jobs Ohio, Ohio's non-profit business development organisation, together with the local chambers of commerce facilitate market entry for foreign companies. (bs)
