Metalcam's Fikus Plus 24 has been designed to offer new levels of flexibility and productivity. The ability to machine in four continuous milling axes allows complex parts that were previously impossible to produce, with automatic roughing and finishing. The six axes in wire EDM allow support for new machine accessories to achieve greater flexibility, speed and quality in this type of machining.

Fikus Plus 24 introduces improvements in flexibility and productivity. The software now supports 4-axis milling, which can efficiently produce complex components, and extends to 6 axes for wire EDM. Roughing and finishing operations are automated, ensuring accuracy and precision.

The software includes a new gear design module, which allows gears to be created using basic parameters. Gears can be easily formulated by providing details such as number of teeth and pitch diameter.

The latest version of the software effectively handles repetitive geometric tasks. Geometry and path transformations are streamlined, resulting in reduced memory consumption and lighter machine programs. This efficiency is beneficial for complex patterns or tasks.

With its 4-axis capability, Fikus Plus 24 can handle a range of machining tasks from 3-axis to 5-axis. This 4-axis programming is equipped with robust tools that simplify operations. Advanced 4-axis processes have been incorporated for improved roughing and finishing, with a containment contouring function suitable for various operations. Additional milling functions, such as corner smoothing in toolpaths, have been added to improve productivity.

Fikus continues to lead the way in wire EDM, introducing numerous enhancements in Fikus Plus 24 to maintain its position as the preferred CAD/CAM solution. The software's Automatic Feature Recognition is particularly efficient, recognising various elements suitable for cutting almost instantly.

6-axis wire EDM support extends the flexibility in handling complex contours. This 6-axis orientation eliminates certain cutting limitations, proving advantageous for precision tasks. Other features, such as the 4-axis no-core cutting algorithm, contribute to faster machining times, which can be reduced by up to 30 percent.

Fikus Plus 24 also offers advanced simulation options for wire EDM. Users can now compare simulated results with the original geometry, helping to identify discrepancies and potential machining errors early on. This feature is invaluable when refining cutting parameters for different materials and designs.
