Epicor Murphy now CEO at Epicor

USA – Epicor Software Corporation has just announced the appointment of Stephen Murphy as CEO. The former president of Open-Text succeeds Joe Cowan, president and CEO, who is due to retire at the end of October 2017 and will also be stepping down from the board.

Chairman Herald Chen thanked Cowan for his service and support the last four years and looks forward to Epicor’s future growth with Murphy on board, saying: “He brings a strong customer-centric orientation, a growth mindset, and a proven track record of leadership.”

Murphy’s career spans over 20 years in the technology sector, including sales and operations leadership positions at Oracle, Sun Microsystems and Manugistics, as well as manufacturing and distribution experience leading global logistics and supply chain strategy and major enterprise resource planning implementations with Accenture and Procter & Gamble. As president at the $2 billion Open-Text, which specialises in enterprise information management, Murphy was at the helm for all customer-facing activities including sales, marketing, partners and alliances, global technical services, customer support, professional services, sales operations and cloud services. And, he was also instrumental in the completion and integration of four major acquisitions at Open-Text.

Murphy holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from University of California, Davis.
