Modelfusa, a manufacturing company based in Manresa, Spain, relied heavily on a single Hexagon Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) equipped with PCDMIS software for their quality control process. The unexpected breakdown of their CMM controller presented a significant challenge, as the company depended on hundreds of existing PCDMIS part programs.

Modelfusa faced a dilemma when seeking a replacement for their broken CMM controller. The OEM solution was prohibitively expensive, requiring not only a new controller but also an upgrade to the latest software version. The alternative retrofitting options from other service providers necessitated rewriting all existing part programs, a time-consuming and costly process.

The retrofit process, carried out by NM3Diberica, was completed in an installation time of just two days making the CMM fully operational again with retained PCDMIS software version and all existing part programs being fully operational. Overall, the Chameleon CMM controller retrofit was significantly more affordable than alternatives. By allowing the company to preserve their existing software and part programs while offering a cost-effective and rapid retrofit, the Chameleon controller demonstrated its value in maintaining operational efficiency and minimizing disruption in manufacturing processes.
