Bedford-based tool shop Midas Pattern Company has repeated as top toolmaker in the partnership supplier category of the UK's Plastics Industry Awards.

The company said this year's award was based on work for Randox Laboratories, producing mouldings to enclose the world’s first fully automated random-access biochip testing platform, which is expected to advance medical diagnostic testing. The instrument casing comprises 26 Reaction Injection Moulded (RIM) components, the largest of which was 1668 x 1191 x 403 mm, and all of which were produced within 12 weeks.

Midas Managing Director Alan Rance said, “We are absolutely delighted to have been awarded this prestigious accolade once again." He thanked the partner company, his staff and "particularly our toolmakers and moulders" whom he lauded for working hard every day to deliver the highest quality of customer service.
