Moulding Area MF partners with Metav
Germany - The Association of Model and Mould Manufacturers (MF) partners with Metav 2016, flying the flag at the fair's Moulding Area.
According to Ulrich Hermann, president of the German Association of Model and Mould Manufacturers, model and mould making has many interfaces with Metav’s core remit and the other areas. “We work closely together with industrial designers, manufacture our models using CNC milling or additive manufacturing processes, and have to possess extensive knowledge of measurement and testing technology so as to assure the quality of the end products.” MF represents around 260 member companies and 30 network partners. The association intends to organise a sectoral meet-up for them in the new Moulding Area, and to make itself available as a contact point for any trade visitors interested, Hermann said.
“We’re all the more gratified to have gained the Association of Model and Mould Manufacturers as a partner for Metav, specifically for our Moulding Area,” added Dr Wilfried Schäfer, executive director at Metav’s organiser VDW (German Machine Tool Builders’ Association), based in Frankfurt am Main. “Thus the final gap has now also been closed for the trade visitor when it comes to showcasing the entire process chain from design, model construction, CAD, software and simulation through the various production processes involved, all the way through to metrology and testing technology,” adds Schäfer.
It’s no less important for model and mould manufacturers to recruit young people. “Our involvement in Metav 2016 also offers synergies for this purpose,” says Hermann. The association cooperates with VDW’s Youth Education and Development Foundation, and will be showcasing the career of a technical model maker at the special youth stand in Hall 17.
