The appointment is of immediate effect. MTA says Hodgson, who has been a member of the MTA Board for several years now, also chairs the association’s technical committee, which looks at activities in advanced manufacturing technologies, like additive manufacturing, automation and industry standards.

At Siemens, Hodgson incorporates the company's activities in advanced manufacturing technologies, including additive manufacturing and robotics. Hodgson also takes care of “intra-company business”, enabling other Siemens divisions to maximise opportunities presented in their digital journey, MTA noted.

CEO at MTA, James Selka said: “Hodgson has been a dedicated member of our Board and his level of expertise has been of great benefit to our technical committee.” Selka added that MTA looks forward to work even more closely with Hodgson in his new position at MTA, especially in relation to opportunities for increased productivity in UK manufacturing, which accelerating digitalisation brings.
