The overall increase in sales was reflected differently in various markets around the world, according to the company. Sales measured in US dollars rose 2.5% in Asia, were up 20% in the US and gained 12% in Europe (or 20% when measured in euros). Orders received in America and Europe bucked the worldwide trend and took the volume in both markets to record highs with significant contributions from the booming aerospace business, the company explained.
