Germany – At AMB in Stuttgart, Hirschmann will present its latest development in rotary indexing tables and rotating indexing EDM spindles: instead of carbon brushes, conductive microfibre rings transmit the power directly to the shaft and the workpiece. Current supply is integrated into the housing of rotary indexing tables.

Essential advantages are said to be improved process reliability, no maintenance of power transmitting contacts, no contamination and no friction. Problems like running-in of contact surface are resolved permanently, Hirschmann says. The company has already delivered the first rotary indexing tables and rotating indexing spindles featuring the new technology, and in many future products this novelty will be fitted as standard, Hirschmann says. In certain cases, retrofitting is possible, the company adds.
