Among the 24 models DMG Mori said it plans to show at the exhibition, the machine tool supplier noted that has added larger units to its third generation of VMCs rolled out last year.

Following what it called a successful premiere of the DMC 650 V at EMO in Hannover, in September, Metav visitors will get a chance to see one of the latest models in the line, the DMC 1150 V.

The unit, which is being introduced along with the DMC 850 V, includes powerful equipment options such as the 14,000 min-1 spindle. The models have a fixed machine table with a maximum load capacity of 1,000kg for the 850 V and 1,500kg for the 1150 V.

Rapid traverse rates of 36 m/min in all axes offer productive machining, the company said. By cooling the ball screw nuts and linear guides, the frictional heat is effectively dissipated, which helps improve processing accuracy.

The work area of the 850 V model is 850 x 520 x 475mm. The DMC 1150 V covers 1,150 x 700 x 550mm and complements the range of vertical machining centres with an increased Y-axis travel of 700mm, the company said.

Both DMC V centres are available with various controls, including the 19-in. Ergoline with Heidenhain TNC 640 as well as Operate 4.5 on a Siemens 840D Solutionline. In addition, the models are also available with Celos control from DMG Mori with a 19-in. Ergoline and Siemens.

Those who missed the introduction of the company’s hybrid additive manufacturing and milling unit at Euromold 2014 will have a chance to see the unit at the Rapid Tech portion of Metav, the company said.
