Dr. Rüdiger Kapitza, chairman of the Executive Board of DMG Mori Seiki and President Dr. Masahiko Mori, announced that the opening of the machine tool builder's new European headquarters in Winterthur, Switzerland, was scheduled for December 2014. Winterthur will host European sales and service activities, Kapitza and Mori said.

Another important step for DMG was the development of the site at Wernau, Germany, the company added. Here, the Technology Centre for system business will be established in 2016. DMG will invest €50m to €60m, Kapitza said. He emphasised the future prospects of this sector. "Labour cost is the name of the game." Kapitza views Wernau as a very well-suited location. "Here we are in the heart of German machine building."

In the world-wide market, DMG Mori mainly sees China and North America on the rise. According to the chairman, German activity is solid, and companies continue to invest. In addition, Kapitza stressed the importance of emerging markets such as Thailand, which was, although still not in the Top 10, on the right track.
