MTA Mach 2012 in April will host more exhibitors and visitors
Mach 2012 in Birmingham, UK, one of Europe’s largest exhibitions for the manufacturing technology industry, takes place April 16–20 against a backdrop of heavy investment and strong growth in the sector. The event organiser expects more visitors, in excess of 20,000, to attend this Mach than did in 2010.
The Manufacturing Technologies Association (MTA), which owns and organises the Mach show, reported that manufacturing in the UK increased by 2.7% in 2011. According to MTA statistics, the manufacturing technologies segment has outperformed the sector in general.
Almost 20% more exhibition space has been taken for Mach 2012 than for the previous edition, the MTA said in early March. Well over 450 organisations had contracted to exhibit, and that number is likely to grow to nearly 500. The organiser projected that more than 5,000 tonnes of working machinery from British, European and global companies would be in operation on the floor of the Birmingham NEC.
Besides the professional visitors at Mach 2012, including suppliers, buyers, academics and policy makers, the MTA will welcome more than 1,000 teenagers who have preregistered to attend and learn what a career in the manufacturing industry has to offer.
