A rosy future for Open Mind and celebrating its 25th anniversay
Hypermill 2019.2, Open Mind's latest version of the company's high-performance CAM solution takes centre stage at Moulding Expo. Presented too will be upgrades of the Hypermill Maxx Machining performance package that includes innovative strategies for HPC machining.
The Hypermill 2019.2 version, according to the company, has new features and upgrades for 3D, 5-axis, mill/turn machining as well as feature and macro technology. Among these are the newly integrated Surface Precision Mode and Smooth Overlap options for 3D finishing, which enable users to create ultra-smooth surfaces.
Turning, also new in the Hypermill Maxx Machining performance package, provides turning strategies for HPC machining, to match innovative milling strategies. The High Performance Turning option makes roughing operations possible and saves time significantly, while wear and stress are reduced on both cutting tools and machine tools. A pocketing technology now included in the Maxx Machining package fits pockets precisely into the machining area and optimises toolpaths for high-feed milling.
Visitors at the booth can delve in the machining area using a 3D machine simulation at the Activity Zone, which is a virtual reality station to experience the Hypermill machining strategies in action.
A live basketball hoop is for visitors to practice shots and a model hoop is on display. The model hoop was milled from a solid aluminum block of over 80kg using Hypermill, which used tools including a conical barrel cutter from OSG that carved 99.3% of the material off the block.
Open Mind celebrates its 25th anniversary at Moulding Expo. A global leading developer of CAD/CAM systems today, all signs point to further growth. Its workforce currently at 305 is set to grow to 320 by year end. It owes its success to its enduring pioneering spirit, ability to innovate and lives and practices its theme “we push machining to the limit”.
At Moulding Expo, Open Mind will be in Hall 5, Booth B31.
