German Rep-Rap Large-format 3D printer features additional safety, printing functions
Germany – German Rep-Rap’s jumbo 3D printer X1000, introduced at Euromold 2014, can print large components or several parts simultaneously.
The company has now introduced the X1000 V2 large-format 3D printer with enhancements including a heated print bed, improved safety functions and a range of different nozzle sizes.
According to the company, the X1000 V2 3D printer offers some important features, such as material management with a two-point sensor system which measures the filament at two points and prevents print errors caused by material running out. A pause function makes it possible to replace the filament roll at any time without impairing the print result. The Direct Drive DD3 extruder with full metal hot end allows a variable contact pressure. A dual extruder as well as a heating bed are now also optionally available with version 2. The X1000 can process PLA, Performance PLA, Laywood and PVA support material.
Due to the introduction of an extended range of nozzle sizes (0.4 to 1 mm), the minimum layer height is now 0.1 mm, German Rep-Rap says. To increase safety, the door is automatically locked when the printer is in operation. An integrated automatic two-fold CO2 fire extinguishing system is available as an option.
