BBG, a system partner for the plastics processing industry, will be showcasing innovative manufacturing solutions for the production of lightweight plastic components at this year’s JEC trade show. The company is a manufacturer of moulds, machinery and plants. It relies on decades of experience in the development and manufacturing of moulds as well as mould carrier and press systems through to fully automated end-to-end production lines.

The focus is on production technology for components made of glass fibre- (GFRP) and carbon fibre-reinforced (CFRP) composites and material combinations with a paper honeycomb core. BBG will be showcasing examples of customer products at the trade show, including aircraft window frames, battery boxes for electric cars and vehicle body parts.

The company, which is headquartered in Southern Germany and has additional production sites in the USA and China, will be exhibiting their solutions at JEC World in Paris from 4 to 6 March at the joint Composites United stand in Hall 6, stand 6R24.

Customers from the aircraft and vehicle construction industries

Global customers include both aircraft and vehicle manufacturers as well as their suppliers. Cooperation often begins during product development. Customers benefit from many years of interdisciplinary knowledge and experience in the development and design of moulds, machinery and plants. Prototype components can be manufactured on BBG production technology pilot plants at Mindelheim/Germany, Oxford/Michigan, and Changchun/China.

Efficient series production from a single source

As a general contractor for series production, BBG is responsible for the project planning, design and implementation of entire production lines, both for new projects and for the refurbishing of existing systems. BBG develops and manufactures core components such as moulds, mould carriers and press systems themselves, while other elements are supplied by long-standing, tried-and-tested partners.

In the process, the company is in charge of selecting and integrating the modules and coordinating the interfaces. The range of services offered also comprises automation, installation and commissioning, including operator training.

Comprehensive expertise also in mould making

BBG is also very well established in the mould making segment. The company develops and manufactures moulds for a wide range of production processes. These are used by customers for Composite Spray Moulding (LFI), Composite Sheet Moulding (CSM) and Compression Moulding (PHC), as well as for low- and high-pressure RTM (LP & HP-RTM), overmoulding and insert moulding and Reaction Injection Moulding (RIM). BBG Mould Making offers solutions that have been tried and tested over many years also for backfoaming and thermoforming films, for glass finishing using PUR, PVC and TPE, and for encapsulating hot water tanks with PUR rigid foam.
