SHW Werkzeugmaschinen/ Geo Kingsbury Integrated spindle for mould finishing
UK – A high frequency spindle option introduced by SHW Werkzeugmaschinen for fork-milling heads can be used on the company’s large capacity machining centres sold in the UK and Ireland by Geo Kingsbury.
According to SHW, the head has continuously variable A- and C-axis movements, providing a full 5-axis machining capability.
With speeds up to 26,000 rpm, the integrated spindle is said to be good for machining light metals and for finishing dies and moulds. For steels, high-speed or high-feed cutting strategies with tool interface, HSK-A63 are used. Developed in cooperation with Kessler, the spindle head is available for use on SHW’s Uni-speed and Power-speed machines. Traverses of up to 30, 2.6 and 1.5 m in the X, Y and Z- axes respectively offer users the flexibility for 5-axis machining of large pieces weighing up to 6 t, the company says.
