German carbide-tool manufacturer Inovatools, following a strategic expansion path, intends to invest by 2017 approximately €15 million in new production plants, office buildings and a training centre. Already, the company reported, it has invested €4 million in its headquarters in Kinding-Haunstetten.

The Project Future investment programme began in 2011 as a response to increasing industry demand for Inovatools’ high-capacity tool systems and for quicker delivery of the products. The first part of the headquarters upgrade—a new production hall with 15 new machines—is complete, the company said.

The office building is expected to be finished by the end of June 2012. Housed in the new building will be the marketing department and a state-of-the-art customer and training centre. Further, Inovatools is relocating its tool R&D function from Mieming, Austria, to its Bavarian headquarters. So far, the investments have included the creation of 15 new employee positions.

The investments already realised have amounted to a starting signal for the investment programme. Another €11 million is to be spent between now and 2017, and another 50 jobs will be created.

Managing Director Ditmar Ertel said one of the several reasons Inovatools is investing in the expansion is to be more economical than the competition. Another focus is the optimisation of delivery times, which have always been relatively short owing to the company’s in-house control of all important production steps, including tool coating.

Inovatools, founded by Georg Eckerle and Ditmar Ertel in 1990, now employs a total of 150 people. According to management, it is globally well positioned owing to a strong network of branches in other countries.
